MTProto proxy for Telegram

Telegram's own protocol: a secret key instead of a login and password, connected with one tap on a link. The address is yours alone, with no strangers and no sponsored channel ads like on free MTProxies.

An MTProto proxy works only with Telegram and is built into the app itself, so there is nothing to install. Telegram connects to your server, and the server connects to Telegram. Instead of a login and password it uses a secret, a long string that is part of the connection link.

At ProxyFarm an MTProto proxy is issued to one customer for 1 or 3 months. After payment a link appears in your dashboard: open it on a phone or computer, Telegram shows the Connect Proxy dialog, tap the button. Within a minute you see the ping and the Connected status next to the server.

What an MTProto proxy is

MTProto is the protocol Telegram uses to talk to its servers. An MTProto proxy (also called MTProxy) accepts this traffic and forwards it. Only Telegram understands it, so the proxy will not work in a browser, an antidetect browser or a scraper; those need SOCKS5 or HTTP(S).

The connection details are three values: server address, port and secret. All three are packed into one link like https://t.me/proxy?server=…&port=…&secret=…. Open it yourself, forward it to your Saved Messages or send it to a colleague who uses the same proxy.

MTProto or SOCKS5 for Telegram

Telegram accepts both protocols. The choice depends on whether you need the proxy anywhere besides the messenger.

If you need a proxy only for the Telegram app, MTProto is simpler: one link instead of a login and password. If the same address must also work in a browser or in automation software, take a dedicated IPv4 with SOCKS5.

How to connect an MTProto proxy in Telegram

  1. After payment, open the order in your dashboard: it has the connection link and an Open in Telegram button.
  2. Tap the button on a device with Telegram installed. The app shows the server, port and ping.
  3. Tap Connect Proxy. The proxy settings then show Connected.

Manual setup: Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy → Add Proxy → type MTProto, then enter the server, port and secret from the dashboard. On Telegram Desktop: Settings → Advanced → Connection type. A full guide for every device is in our article how to set up a proxy in Telegram.

Who needs a private MTProto proxy

Accounts that must not be linked to each other are better kept on separate addresses, because Telegram sees the IP of active sessions. For account networks, use separate IPv4 or mobile proxies.

Countries

MTProto proxies are available in 41 countries: the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Cyprus, Turkey, Israel, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Australia, South Africa, Nigeria, Morocco and China. Pick the country closest to you for the lowest ping.

Payment, renewal and replacement

You pay from your dashboard balance, topped up with crypto or by invoice for companies. The proxy is issued automatically a couple of minutes after payment, and the link appears right away under My proxies.

There is no auto-renewal: you get an email before the term ends and renew with one click on the order page. If the proxy does not connect within the first 24 hours after delivery, contact support and we will replace it free of charge.

FAQ

What is the secret of an MTProto proxy?

It is the access key used instead of a login and password; without it nobody can connect. The secret is already in the link from your dashboard, so you only type it for manual setup.

Why pay for MTProto when free ones exist?

A free proxy is shared by hundreds of people at once, so it is slow and often stops working. Such proxies also pin a sponsored channel ad to your chat list. A private proxy is yours only, has no ads and works for the whole paid term.

Can I use one proxy on my phone and computer?

Yes, open the same link on every device. For different accounts that must not be linked, take separate proxies.

Will an MTProto proxy work in a browser or other software?

No, only Telegram understands the protocol. Browsers, antidetect tools and software need SOCKS5 or HTTP(S) proxies, which start at $1.73 a month.

Is there a free trial for MTProto?

No, MTProto is not available for trial. The minimum term is one month for $1.99, and if the proxy does not connect within the first 24 hours we replace it free of charge.

What to choose

The type depends on the platform. If an IP does not fit within the first 24 hours, we replace it for free.
